Light #64
From: Mukwanago, WI
Dedication: Dietrich Bonnehoeffer
Classification: Other Light-Maker
This is a poem I wrote while I was in Delevan at the Lake, preparing for the first session of the 6 Million Lights workshop.
6 Million Drops of Light
30-40 mph winds produce
white capped waves,
bouncing, bounding,
shimmering in the sunlight,
a tumult of chaos —
unrest and extinction
immanent.
We know the nature
of this lake —
58 feet deep.
Tomorrow will be different,
peaceful memory of yesterday
trying to capture the depth,
recapture the unrest,
stir it up
to remembering
those light capped waves,
ephemeral reminder
of the generational suffering
of genocide.
